Maya

Well since May 10, 2003, when we picked up Maya (Fern) from the shelter in Amherst she has assimilated into our household exceptionally well.

We were a little concerned that our older dog Dusty (a lab husky mix, 10 years old) would have a hard time adjusting... not likely you would think that they were together since puppy hood. Maya is still very much a puppy and I think her big brother finds her a little pesty at times but they play together well, sleep on the bed together and share toys and bones like the best of friends!!!!

Our cat Puddy has been very tolerant, as Maya likes to chase her but now Puddy chases her back, I think its a game. My husband loves Maya and is very pleased with our choice of companions for Dusty (he's Daddys boy).

Maya listens very well, loves to chew raw hide and is very much a Border Collie. We often say she "cheks out into Maya Maya land" when she gets focused on something. This fall we will start obedience classes and perhaps Agility next summer, oh those shelter dogs, what a hard life.

We love her to death and are sure that she will continue to be a happy and cheerful addition to our family.
