Jake

Jake is 4 years old and was adopted from the LA Animal Shelter, along with his brother Java, at 10 weeks old. The word was that they were brothers, abandoned in a cardboard box in a field, yet they hardly looked anything alike. Both were absolutely beautiful dogs with distinct personalities, lots of energy and great friends.

However after a year old, Java was diagnosed with Epilepsy. He had the greatest life we could give him, but the adverse affects of the medication on his liver took it’s toll and he died last year at the young age of 3. We were devastated and as much as it hurt to say good-bye, Java had lived happily unaware of what was happening. Even Java’s last hours were spent chasing the ball and playing with Jake in the yard.

And while we miss Java with all our hearts, we could not neglect Jake who, still active and playful … deserved another playmate. So back to the shelter we went.

After a fateful twist of events, we found sweet Dakota. At just over a year old, she was the perfect fit! Jake openly accepted her and they became immediate friends. It has been over a year now and they are wonderful playmates, even taking turns running for the ball. Dakota, though distinct in her own right, ironically has many of the same personality traits as Java. She is a wonderful match to our animal farm, which now consists of two dogs and three cats. A warm reminder of just how lucky we are to be graced with such amazingly wholehearted companions
