Hi there - it's me Herbie!

Sorry it's been a while since I wrote to you guys, but I've been really busy! I celebrated my birthday a couple of weeks ago on the anniversary of me coming to my new home! I got a nice new collar, a new 'Kong' with a rope for at the beach and a rawhide bone to chew on - it didn't last long!! What a year it has been!

I am so happy here - I get lots of love, lots of great walks and lots of treats! Everyone I meet says what a beautiful boy I am - I like to act big and tough when I first meet them, but I'm a pushover once they let me sniff them - and if they give me a belly rub..... I'm a big sookie!!

I had a great summer - we went to the beach lots of times and I also learnt how to swim - the first time was more or less by accident - my family were having a new house built and it had rained a lot after they had poured the frost walls. I was out for a walk with my dad when we met the nice builder and his granddaughter - she threw a stick into the water and I jumped in after it - I learnt to swim pretty quick!! It was even more fun when we went for a picnic in a park and I got to go swimming in the river with my kids! I don't like swimming at the beach though - I just run in and out of the water there!

As I just mentioned, my mum and dad had a new house built and I got to look around it with my dad everyday and make sure they were building it right! We moved in on October 15th. I have my own room on the main floor, but my family call it the 'Family room' - I don't know why??? The house is bigger and all the family sleep upstairs now, so it is easier to guard them at night. I miss the carpets that we had at the old house, but there are a few rugs that I like to lay on - I especially like the one that Grandma brought with her as it is in front of the fireplace - one of my favourite spots! But I also have a nice big pillow to lay on and my 'own' chair to sleep in if I feel like it!

Our new yard doesn't have much grass in it yet, but there is still lots of space for me to chase my 'Kong'. They have also just built another new road, which goes to a lake - my dad takes me up there, but it is a bit too cold to swim now! My mum and dad say we'll have more grass next spring - I can't wait! In the meantime, I can't wait for it to snow - I LOOOVE SNOW!!! I make it my personal challenge to eat as much of it as possible!

I'm a pretty good boy most of the time - I don't bark unless someone comes to my house - or if some one taps on something - I don't like tapping! I only chew my Kong and my roasted bone - sometimes they put peanut butter in it for me! YUM!! I am really friendly when I meet other dogs and I'm not on my leash - I have 2 special friends called Riley and Hunter whom I have lots of fun with - they are the only dogs that my mum and dad know who can keep up with me - my friend Buddy just lies down and plays 'dead' - I think I'm a bit too energetic for him!

My mum and dad tell me I am bad when I try to protect them from other dogs when I am on my leash - I've gotten into a few snarling matches and they make me lay on my bed when I get home - I don't get any treats either.... they got me a muzzle too - my mum puts it on me when she sees another dog coming - I really don't like it......maybe one day I'll realize it's better not to bark and snarl at them!

I'm going to send you guys some new photos of me and my family - I hope you like them!

Thanks once again for taking such good care of me after I got lost - I'm so glad you found me a new family - I love them all very much and I'm pretty certain they all love me too - in fact I know they do, they tell me nearly every day!!
